Chriss breaks leg in Warriors scrimmage, will have surgery originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Warriors just can't seem to catch a break.

Golden State is off to an 0-2 start and got some bad news as center Marquese Chriss suffered a right syndesmosis ankle injury and a fractured fibula during a scrimmage Saturday, the team announced. Chriss will undergo surgery and his timetable for return will be established then.

The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that Chriss will miss the rest of the season.

Chriss, 23, has resurrected his career since joining the Warriors last season and was part of a three-man center rotation that includes rookie James Wiseman and Kevon Looney.

In two games this season, Chriss was averaging 6.5 points per game while shooting 35.7 percent from the floor.

With Chriss out for the season, the Warriors will undoubtedly give more minutes to Wiseman as the rookie has been the lone bright spot in their 0-2 start.

The Warriors now have had four players suffer season-ending injuries in the last 18 months.
