On Friday, Marcus Thompson of The Athletic provided some details about Adams' new position:
I'm told Adams' new role will take advantage of him as a teacher and not just a defensive guru. He will spend more time on the development side while also serving as an aide to the other assistants. With the youth on the roster and the emphasis on player development, Adams' wealth of experience will be vital.
Adams' new role is part of a restructuring of the entire staff, according to a source, changes that are not fully known yet. But the traditional ranking of the assistants and where they sit on the bench will be different starting this season.
It's unclear if Adams will sit on the front of the bench like he has since joining Golden State in the summer of 2014.
The 71-year-old is widely considered one of the league's best assistant coaches.
