Report: Prospect Mitchell to work out for Warriors this week originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
NBA draft prospect Davion Mitchell will get a chance this week to prove the reported non-believers in the Warriors organization wrong.

KRON4 News' Jason Dumas reported Tuesday night that the Baylor Bears star will arrive in San Francisco on Wednesday and work out for the Warriors on Thursday.
The Warriors currently hold the No. 7 and No. 14 overall picks in the July 29 NBA Draft, and Mitchell has been flying up draft boards and mock drafts ever since he helped Baylor knock off Gonzaga in the NCAA Championship Game in April.
The report of Mitchell's workout with the Warriors comes a day after Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman told Sam Esfandiari and Andy Liu on the Light Years Podcast that some within the Golden State organization aren't sold on the 23-year-old being worthy of the No. 7 pick.
"I know that there are reports that the Warriors like Davion," Wasserman told Esfandiari and Liu. "But from people I know -- not everybody likes him there. Not everybody thinks of him as a top-10 pick.
"Now that doesn't mean that they wouldn't take him at seven ... [but] I haven't put him to the Warriors at all in my mocks. I could be wrong.
"But I know for a fact that not everybody in the organization thinks that he's a good pick at seven."
In 30 games during the 2020-21 season for Baylor, Mitchell averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 33 minutes per contest, helping the Bears go 28-2 en route to their first national title in program history.
Mitchell was named Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year this past season, and as NBC Sports Bay Area's Kendra Andrews writes, it's those defensive traits that should put him on the Warriors' radar.
If the Warriors' front office truly is torn on Mitchell, the workout on Thursday should clear things up, and if Golden State doesn't trade their two lottery picks and end up taking the Baylor guard at No. 7, it's likely that the July 15 showcase will have played a big part in the selection.
