NBA rumors: Mavericks don't plan to pursue trade for Andre Iguodala

There is no doubt that every playoff contender has their eyes on Andre Iguodala.

The 2015 NBA Finals MVP hasn't played this season after the Warriors traded him to the Grizzlies in July, and he has no plans to ever suit up in Memphis. While Iguodala kicks his feet up and relaxes, teams are playing the waiting game, believing the Grizzlies won't find a trade partner and eventually will buyout Iguodala.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers all have been mentioned as possible suitors for Iguodala, as the veteran swingman would be a valuable addition to any title-contending team.

One team that has been linked to Iguodala -- the Dallas Mavericks -- will not try and swing a trade for the veteran, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

While the contenders sit and wish for the Grizzlies to cut Iguodala loose, that is not in Memphis' plans.

If no trade materializes by February, the Grizzlies might rethink their plan, but for now, they have zero incentive to do what a number of teams are hoping for.

Assuming Iguodala does eventually find a new home, his addition automatically would boost the championship odds of any contending team. His defensive savvy, playoff experience and versatility would be a big boost to the Lakers and Rockets especially as both teams are in need of another wing defender for a potential playoff matchup with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the Clippers.

Iguodala will see the hardwood again one day. For now, though, he can spend his time getting PGA Tour winner Max Homa's thoughts on his golf swing. Not a bad life.
