Report: Pierce joining Pacers, not Warriors' coaching staff originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Lloyd Pierce will not be a member of the Warriors' coaching staff next season.

The former head coach of the Atlanta Hawks is very close to joining the Indiana Pacers, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole earlier this week reported that the Warriors were considering hiring Pierce.

Golden State has a vacancy on the front of the bench after the franchise and Jarron Collins mutually agreed to part ways.

Pierce -- a Bay Area native who was college teammates with Steve Nash at Santa Clara -- was fired by the Hawks on March 1 after two-plus seasons at the helm.
