NBA rumors: Kevin Durant-Kyrie Irving tandem in Boston 'not impossible' originally appeared on nbcsportsbayarea.com
But now, there's another option that has been floated out there.
What about Durant leaving the Warriors and joining irving in Boston?
Apparently, it's not so crazy, ESPN's Brian Windhorst is reporting.
"It's not impossible for the Celtics to get their hands on Kevin Durant this offseason," Windhorst said on ESPN's The Jump on Tuesday before the Warriors lost to the Celtics. "I'm not saying I think it's gonna happen, I'm just saying it's not impossible."
The Celtics will likely target Pelicans center Anthony Davis this offseason, but if they strike out on that pursuit, they could turn their attention to Durant, who they wanted badly in the summer of 2016.
"They have the assets to trade for Anthony Davis. Kevin Durant, he can be signed and traded," Windhorst said. "They can work out a deal. Remember, the team that finished in ‘second place' when he signed with the Warriors was Boston. When people look at Kyrie and KD, I think they automatically assume it's just gonna be in New York. There's other teams out there that could do it."
Either way, the common theme is that Durant won't be a member of the Warriors past this season.
Yahoo's Chris Haynes is reporting that Durant's recent behavior with the media is an indication that he's "got one foot out the door."
