The Celtics plan to waive the 23-year-old forward, Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reported Wednesday.
Boston selected Yabusele at No. 16 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft, but the French big man never was able to take the next step. After spending the 2016-17 season overseas, he averaged just 7.1 minutes per game in 2017-18 and 6.1 minutes per game last season.
Yabusele had been struggling at this year's NBA Summer League and also was dealing with a dislocated finger.
Yabusele's pending departure could open the door for big man Tacko Fall, who's currently on an Exhibit 10 contract with Boston but could earn a two-way deal with the C's if Tremont Waters or Max Strus replace Yabusele on the active roster.
UPDATE (2:15 p.m. ET): The Boston Herald's Mark Murphy confirmed Yabusele will be waived Wednesday.
Source confirms @ChrisBHaynes report that Celtics plan to waive Guerschon Yabusele later today. "He needs a change of scenery."
