Report: Iguodala, Warriors expected to meet in free agency originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Andre Iguodala reportedly is set to hit free agency, and is expected to meet with the Warriors, The Associated Press' Tim Reynolds reported Sunday, citing a source.

Iguodala is set to enter free agency after the Miami Heat elected to decline his team option for the 2021-22 NBA season, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday, citing a source.

Iguodala and the Warriors seem like a tremendous match in free agency. Iguodala likely wants to continue playing for a contender, and a return to the Bay Area, where he won three NBA championships with the Warriors, would make a lot of sense, especially with the team's need for ballhandlers in the second unit.

Igoudala, 37, spent the past two seasons with the Heat after six years with the Warriors. He helped Miami advance to the NBA Finals in the bubble to conclude the 2019-20 season.

Iguodala likely will need to take the veteran's minimum to return to Golden State, unless the front office decides to dip into the mid-level exception to sign him.

A number of other title contenders almost certainly will have interest in Iguodala, but his close relationship with Steph Curry and his Warriors history could make Golden State the front-runner.

At the very least, it appears the sides are set to meet sometime after free agency opens Monday afternoon.
