NBA rookies who could surprise this season

Yahoo Sports senior NBA writer Vincent Goodwill has some ideas about which rookies are set to make an impact when the NBA season starts Tuesday night.

Sure, we’re all bummed that New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson will miss the start of the season because of knee surgery, but he’s so special it will be tough for him to miss out on the NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

Still, Goodwill is bullish on a pair of rookies who might not be on everyone’s radar. One is hoping to be a foundational piece for one of the most high-profile teams in the league, and the other missed all of last season because of injury.
