NBA retroactively takes away Rockets G Kevin Porter Jr.'s 1st career triple-double
Kevin Porter Jr. had his first career NBA triple-double for less than 24 hours.
The Houston Rockets guard appeared to reach the milestone on Monday when he posted 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds against the Oklahoma City Thunder in 102-89 win. His teammates went out of their way to ensure Porter got the achievement, with center Alperen Sengun intentionally tapping away a rebound and forward Jae'Sean Tate yelling for him to grab the ball.
It was one of the least deserved rebounds you will ever see in an NBA game, but it counted as Porter's 10th rebound. Until Tuesday.
Upon further review, the NBA decided that Porter's rebound should have instead been counted as a controlled tip for Sengun, whose stat line was upped to four points, five rebounds and three assists.
After review, league confirms Kevin Porter Jr's 10th rebound last night -- with ~1:00 left to clinch Porter's triple-double -- will instead be credited to Alperen Sengun as a controlled tip. Sengun + teammates were trying to help Porter get the triple-double.

Technically correct? Probably. Fun? Not so much.
Porter is currently averaging 13.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game this season, though he's shooting a career-worse 35.9% for the 4-16 Rockets. He still has plenty of basketball ahead of him at 21 years old, which hopefully includes another, more real, triple-double.
