NBA releases never-before-seen dunk contest video with Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady

Three weeks after showering Vince Carter with cheers in what was likely his final game in Toronto, Raptors fans were treated to some more “Vinsanity” nostalgia over the weekend.

In celebration of his 42nd birthday on Saturday, the NBA released never-before-seen video featuring “Half Man, Half Amazing” and his former teammate, Tracy McGrady, as the two battled it out in a dunk contest before the 1999-2000 season.

Both McGrady and Carter went on to compete in the 2000 NBA Dunk Contest, with the latter taking the title and cementing his status as a superstar.

There’s no way of knowing if Carter had intended to participate in the official NBA dunk contest then, but as you can see in the video, Vince was thrilling fans with his legendary windmill slams long before he made Shaq jump out of his seat on All-Star weekend.

It’s a fun trip down memory lane for fans who miss the days when Alvin Williams, Muggsy Bogues, Charles Oakley, and Dell Curry donned the dinosaur on their jerseys.
