Point Guard

Mike Conley - Utah Jazz (vs. Indiana Pacers)

With the current state of the NBA, the name of the game is consistent minutes/usage. If you can solidify a team of high usage starters who see 30+ minutes in a high pace/high scoring matchup, well that’s the goal. Easier said then done. Mike Conley is seemingly the most healthy Jazz player. Mitchell, Bogdonovic, and O’Neale are all questionable at the moment but I could see all of them playing in the end. you really can’t make any final decisions until you see their confirmed lineup. Hassan Whiteside should be a chalky play with Rudy Gobert already confirmed out. I don’t know if I would fade Whiteside but it is a viable strategy. He should be at least 50% rostered on tonight’s six-game slate. But back to Conley, monitor Utah’s confirmed lineup up until lock. The Jazz are still favored by -3.5 even with an abundance of injuries. Jordan Clarkson and Mike Conley could very well be Utah’s only guards against an Indiana Pacers team who have struggled against opposing ball handlers so far this season. Brogdon or not, Utah’s guards have a solid matchup tonight.

Other PG Option: Killian Hayes

Shooting Guard

Jaylen Brown - Boston Celtics (vs. New York Knicks)

New York was adamant to give their starters as many minutes as possible as they tried to cut the deficit against Boston on Thursday. The question is, if the Knicks go down big to start, does Thibodeau give Julius Randle, Evan Fournier, and others another 35 plus minute night? Obi Toppin barely saw any usage in Thursday’s match up due to extended play for Randall as New York slowly ate into Boston’s lead. What am I getting at? Well, normally in a blowout you would look towards New York’s bench players for value (ie, Quickley). I don’t know if that is necessarily the strategy tonight as Thibodeau clearly ran his starters opposed to trusting his bench in the last matchup. Playing Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum together did not pan out last time but tonight this could very well be a GPP strategy worth investing in. Most players will not roster both of these superstars for one lineup but if Boston does what I think they’ll do, it might be smarter to invest in a full Boston stock, finding value elsewhere.

Other SG Option: Cade Cunningham

Small Forward

Jayson Tatum - Boston Celtics (vs. New York Knicks)

The Celtics allowed the Knicks to come back from a 20 point deficit in their last game. The truth is the Celtics matchup very well against the New York Knicks. Tatum and Brown typically perform well vs. NY as they did in the first half of Thursday nights game. Evan Fournier needed to play a nearly perfect game in order for the Knicks to win 108-105. I fully expect Boston to take this one on the back of Jayson Tatum. The Celtics are still seven point favorites despite losing to New York on Thursday. Remember, this matchup is in Boston as the last one was in New York City. Tatum fully took control in the first half of Thursday nights game. He had the freedom and space to shoot from behind the arc or drive to the bracket. New York Knicks have tough times guarding lengthy small forwards who are versatile. This is what they’ll have in Jayson Tatum tonight. Boston spread - 7, lock it in.

Other SF Options: Saddiq Bey

Power Forward

Hamidou Diallo - Detroit Pistons (vs. Orlando Magic)

The Detroit Pistons are the healthiest team on tonight’s slate. They have officially gotten back Hayes, Cunningham, Bey, and Stewart. Orlando on the other hand have a litany of injuries and uncertainties. I like Detroit to win big tonight. The Magic could potentially struggle from the field depending on their personnel. If Orlando is without some of their major pieces, Detroit will see an increase in defensive rebounds as well as offensive output. The Pistons have lost games to good teams but tend to beat the bad ones. The Magic are dead last East and will be without major parts of their staring lineups. Hamidou Diallo has the perfect game to benefit from this narrative. Diallo will benefit through rebounds, steals and blocks. Diallo is capable of stacking a variety of different stats. Skies the limit for a low rostered GPP option tonight. Make sure to check confirmed starting lineups prior to lineup construction for this and all games.

Other PF Option: Justin Holiday

Center

Myles Turner - Indiana Pacers (vs. Utah Jazz)

How to fade Whiteside? It’s a good question because honestly if he doesn’t perform, I think the Jazz will get blown out. Under this narrative, fading exposure to Utah’s offense is the play. Myles Turner could have a massive outing tonight. Turner can really rack up fantasy points in the right matchup. More importantly, he’s the perfect vulture off of a chalky Domantas Sabonis. With most of the field investing in Domantas Sabonis, Turner is just as capable of a 50-burger tonight (at much lower percentages). If the Utah Jazz end up being fully healthy tonight (with exception to Rudy Gobert), I still expect Whiteside to be a popular play. Gobert is already confirmed out.

Note: Udoka Azubuike is also a viable fade option off of Hassan Whiteside but more so of a punt

Other C Option: Isaiah Stewart
