Point Guard

Jordan McLaughlin - Minnesota Timberwolves (vs. Memphis Grizzlies)

D’Angelo Russell is questionable tonight as the Minnesota Timberwolves matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. If Russell does not play, Patrick Beverley could see extended usage. Beverley could be a chalky investment on tonight‘s eight-game slate but that’s not where I’m looking for GPP pivoting purposes. As you keep reading you’ll see that I love these Memphis Grizzlies tonight. The Minnesota Timberwolves are struggling and with D’Angelo Russell not at 100%, I’m expecting nothing short of a 7+ point victory for the Memphis Grizzlies. With that said, Jordan McLaughlin is my sneaky GPP pivot here. Despite seeing limited minutes, he is producing. McLaughlin has impressed and as I said, I expect Memphis to take this game relatively easily (especially if Russell is out). Look for bench players to excel for the Timberwolves tonight. Minnesota should be playing from behind for most of this matchup. McLaughlin is the perfect combination of defensively and offensively capable. At minimum salary, consider Jordan McLaughlin tonight over Beverley (if Russell is confirmed out).

Other PG Option: Devonte Graham

Shooting Guard

De'Anthony Melton - Memphis Grizzlies (vs. Minnesota Timberwolves)

De’Anthony Melton is one of many solid plays from the Memphis Grizzlies tonight as they set to face a struggling Minnesota Timberwolves offense. Not only do the Minnesota Timberwolves allow the most offensive rebound in the league but they also allow 9.0 steals per game and 5.5 blocks per game. Both of these averages rank eighth highest in the NBA so far this season. De’Anthony Melton is known for his defense. He has 14 steals and eight blocks so far this season, ranking him second on the Grizzlies in both of these categories. Melton would likely be matched up against D’Angelo Russell but Russell is currently questionable for tonight‘s matchup. The Memphis Grizzlies are my top selection in terms of conventional betting for tonight. The Grizzlies are favored by -5.5 points with a 217.5 O/U courtesy of PointsBet.com.

Other SG Option: Seth Curry

Small Forward

Nickeil Alexander-Walker - New Orleans Pelicans (vs. Dallas Mavericks)

Brandon Ingram is questionable once again as the New Orleans Pelicans get ready to face the Dallas Mavericks. Ingram‘s injury status is crucial information necessary for lineup construction tonight. If Ingram is not ready to return, Valanciunas and Nickeil Alexander-Walker become very solid play tonight. Alexander-Walker stepped in well during Ingram’s absence. He’s averaging 27.3 DK FP so far this season and still sits at a DK salary of $5.900. His minutes are consistently between 28 -36 and his usage rate is high as well. The only thing standing in his way tonight is Brandon Ingram’s potential return. It’s worth it to use late swap and wait for the confirmed news on Brandon Ingram. The Pelicans are currently + 8.5 point underdogs with a 213 O/U courtesy of PointsBet.com.

Power Forward

Julius Randle /Mitchell Robinson - New York Knicks (vs. Philadelphia 76ers)

Andre Drummond was upwards of 95% rostered (depending on your league) the last time Joel Embiid hit the bench. Drummond ended up with 56.8 DK FP at a salary of $4,400. Tonight, Drummond will draw the start again against the New York Knicks. He’s at a salary of $5,600 and I fully expect him to be 90+ % rostered once again. Tobias Harris is also out, making the case for Drummond even stronger. For GPP pivoting purposes, we’re going to fade the big man and invest in Mitchell Robinson and/or Julius Randle. Robinson is currently uncertain to play tonight which is why I’ve included Julius Randle. The Philadelphia 76ers are averaging the third-most offensive rebounds allowed to their opponents at 12.2 per game. The only way Drummond does NOT reach value is if the 76ers get blown out, which is a very real possibility. If the Knicks can blow out the 76ers tonight, Philadelphia would likely shoot below 40 percent from the field. Robinson/Randle would benefit from this scenario. Knicks’ big men would see increased rebounds, blocks, and steals. Just to be clear, this is a pivot play. Do I think the will Knicks blow out tonight? No. Is it a possibility? Yes. The key to finding the perfect GPP pivot play is to fade the chalk with a viable game narrative. Well, that’s what we have here. Drummond will likely reach value given his salary and matchup but assuming he doesn’t, the game narrative would point towards big games at low percentages for New York’s big men.

Other PF Option: Kristaps Porzingis

Center

Steven Adams - Memphis Grizzlies (vs. Minnesota Timberwolves)

Steven Adams has 33 offensive rebounds so far this season. He will be facing a Minnesota Timberwolves team that allows a league-high 13.1 offensive rebounds per game. Adams is sitting at very low salaries around the industry. Over his past six outings, Adams has been held to mediocre efforts ranging from 12.8 - 28.3 DK FP but tonight, I see Memphis’ center reaching his 42 point ceiling at a salary of $4,500 on Draftkings. I am very confident in the Memphis Grizzlies tonight!

Other C Option: Taj Gibson
