Sixers 'have interest' in intriguing vet sharpshooter: report originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

Daryl Morey knows the Sixers need to surround Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid with shooters to unlock their full potential, which explains his flurry of Draft-night moves.

And it also explains the latest free agency rumors swirling Friday afternoon, which indicate that the Sixers might be trying to add even more shooting after the additions of Seth Curry and Danny Green.

The Sixers are reportedly eyeing up veteran sharpshooter D.J. Augustin, according to CBS Sports' Michael Kaskey-Blomain:

Augustin, 33, would be an intriguing addition to this roster. With Curry, Green, and the drafting of Tyrese Maxey, it certainly feels like the Sixers are loading up on guards who can score in bunches.

Augustin is a career 38% three point shooter who had a down year last season in Orlando, scoring 10.5 points per game on 34.8% shooting from deep and 39.9% from the floor. His free throw shooting is a strength, though, and it's unlikely that he'd be asked to shoot eight times per game with the Sixers the way he did last year with the Magic.

Encouragingly, Augustin shot a very solid 41.6% on catch-and-shoot threes last year, which accounted for roughly 20% of his shots.

Now, the Sixers aren't the only team interested in Augustin's services. Both Milwaukee and Phoenix are also reportedly interested in adding the vet:

The Bucks offer somewhat of a clearer path to a championship, while the Suns are building a possible West contender on the fly, but if it comes down to money, the theoretical fit doesn't really matter to Augustin anyway.

It'll be very interesting to see how Morey shapes the roster in the coming hours and days.
