Kevin Durant suffered an Achilles injury on Monday night in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, which prompted cheering from several Toronto Raptors fans throughout Scotiabank Arena.
Naturally, that drew a quick response from players, coaches and fans, many of which instantly took to social media to condemn the actions.
On Tuesday, though, at least one Raptors fan is trying to make it right.
One anonymous Canadian sent Durant flowers to the Warriors office on Tuesday morning, apologizing “on behalf of Canada” and wishing him a speedy recovery.
"I hereby apologize on behalf of Canada -- prayers for recovery."

“Dear KD and the Warriors: I can’t even believe those dumba-- Raptors fans cheered when they saw you were injured,” the card read, via NBC Sports. “I was watching the game and felt horrible. It was a total disgrace. I hereby apologize on behalf of Canada. Prayers for recovery.”
While the injury will sideline Durant for the rest of the year, something he and the Warriors obviously are upset about, the classy gesture has to at least help a little bit — regardless of who ends up winning the NBA Finals.
Fan starts GoFundMe page for Durant’s charity
Flowers weren’t the only gesture Raptors fans made after Durant’s Achilles injury.
A different Raptors fan, Hamzah Moin, started a GoFundMe page to raise money for Durants charity, the “Kevin Durant Charity Foundation.” After just one day, the campaign had raised nearly $15,000 of its $25,000 goal.
“We're sorry that some fans of Raptor Nation at the Scotiabank arena, Jurassic Park, and in some bars/restaurants showing the game, displayed an ugly side of fandom when they cheered on the injury of Kevin Durant,” Moin wrote on the page. “This isn't cool. This isn't right. This isn't what I expect from fellow Canadians ... Join me in sending our well-wishes to KD as he recovers.
“He's put his blood, sweat and tears in this beautiful sport. Let's give back to something he's passionate about — helping to enrich the lives of at-risk youth from low-income backgrounds through educational, athletic and social programs through the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation.”
Great work all around, Canada.
