Thomas Bryant's NBA dreams became a reality Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, as the Los Angeles Lakers drafted the former IU center with the No. 42 overall pick in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft.
With the selection, Bryant became the 76th NBA Draft selection in Indiana men's basketball program history. He's the first former IU player taken in the second round since shooting guard Bracey Wright in 2005.
Bryant improved his scoring and rebounding average from his freshman to sophomore season, posting 12.6 points and 6.6 boards per game. He added 52 blocks and 26 steals while playing in all 34 games in his final season at Indiana. He started in all 69 games of his college career.
