Report: Avdija is prospect Warriors covet most outside top three originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

As the 2020 NBA Draft nears, the Warriors have been very active in leaking information.

It appears that if the Warriors have their eyes on James Wiseman if they keep the No. 2 pick. But trading down has always been an intriguing option. If the Warriors do find a partner to move down the board, they could be targeting Deni Avdija, who is the prospect "outside the top three" who the Warriors covet most, The Athletic's Anthony Slater reported Tuesday, citing league sources.

The Warriors reportedly were "blown away" by Avdija at the workout they attended, and the 19-year-old reportedly would prefer to be drafted by Golden State as opposed to other suitors.

The Israeli forward is talented playmaking wing who can guard multiple positions and is skilled in transition. He is adept at putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim. He's also a gifted passer. While there are questions surrounding the long-term development of this 3-point shot, Avdija would be an ideal fit for the Warriors.

He could slide in nicely alongside Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins and thrive in Steve Kerr's ball-movement offense. He is a threat both with the ball in his hands and as a cutter. When Curry goes to the bench, Avdija could be the secondary ball-handler the Warriors have been looking for ever since Shaun Livingston retired, Andre Iguodala was traded and Kevin Durant left for the Brooklyn Nets.

Avdija might be the prospect with the highest floor in the draft and has all the tools to blossom into a star in the Warriors' system. He would fill an immediate need at wing and would be part of the bridge from the Curry era to the next generation of Warriors basketball.

If the Warriors can find a trade partner to recoup another asset and still grab Avdija, that would an ideal draft night for Curry and Co.
