[CROWD CHEERS]

KRYSTEN PEEK: I'm Krysten Peek, NBA Draft analyst for Yahoo Sports, here with the number nine pick in the NBA Draft, Jeremy Sochan, headed to the Spurs. Jeremy, congratulations.

JEREMY SOCHAN: Thank you.

KRYSTEN PEEK: What does this night mean to you?

JEREMY SOCHAN: It means so much. I feel like, you know, I've been dreaming about this for so long. I'm so excited. My heart was beating so fast. So I can't wait to get there, and you know, get to work.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Do you remember what the Commissioner said to you, when he shook your hand?

JEREMY SOCHAN: Yeah. He said the Spurs is a great organization. And they're going to do me, you know, well. And I'm going to do well there, you know, with work, and hard work, so.

KRYSTEN PEEK: I mean, I know you're wearing the hat now.

JEREMY SOCHAN: Yeah.

KRYSTEN PEEK: But earlier this week, you tweeted, "Hello, ladies and gentlemen. What are we thinking for suit and hair?" With like, 11 different random emojis?

[LAUGHS]

Did you take any of those suggestions into consideration?

JEREMY SOCHAN: I tried to. I tried to. But yeah, we went with a-- like a kind of like, a--

KRYSTEN PEEK: Let's see it.

JEREMY SOCHAN: A blondish.

KRYSTEN PEEK: OK.

JEREMY SOCHAN: Yeah. And we'll see what color I have for you know, the San Antonio Spurs. So we'll see.

KRYSTEN PEEK: I thought you were going to know where you were going, and then planned, like--

JEREMY SOCHAN: Ah, I wish. I wish.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Are you going to eventually put a spur in the back, do you think?

JEREMY SOCHAN: We'll see. We'll see.

KRYSTEN PEEK: OK. And heading to San Antonio, how does that work out? And how are the meetings with the organization and the coaching staff?

JEREMY SOCHAN: Yeah. I think overall, it was great. From me, just being able to talk to them, personally, off the court. And then on the court, just being able to show what I can do, I think it was great. And they trust me. So I can't wait.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Did you meet with Coach Popovich, at all?

JEREMY SOCHAN: Yeah. I called-- he called me after. So that meant a lot. And I can't wait, you know?

KRYSTEN PEEK: What did he say to you--

JEREMY SOCHAN: Coach, that he's so happy. You know, he liked my outfit, my hair. So I can't wait to be coached by, you know, a legend. So.

KRYSTEN PEEK: I mean, you were at Baylor, right? And I don't think your stat sheet really shows the type of player you are. You're, first of all, one of the best defenders in the country with your length and size.

You can guard multiple positions. But you're very raw, on your-- on the offense. And I think the NBA caters to you more. Was that more your message to you? Like, you're going to have more freedom offensively, to create for yourself and others?

JEREMY SOCHAN: Yeah, I think so. I mean, you know, I had to fit a role in Baylor. And I think I did that really well.

And like you said, not a lot of-- not a lot of the stuff on the set, she really showed how I impacted women. So I can't wait to play with more space and a little bit more freedom. And we'll see.

KRYSTEN PEEK: I mean, they already have an established team. And then they also got Josh Primo, last year. What are you most looking forward to, playing with them and getting to learn from some of those veteran players?

JEREMY SOCHAN: Yeah. I mean, I feel like it's still a young core.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Yeah.

JEREMY SOCHAN: And it's a team that really wants to work hard and win. And you know, it's a team, team, team, team. Like, they play as a team. So I can't wait to fit my role there, and you know, keep them going.

KRYSTEN PEEK: I want to say that you're probably the first Polish-English basketball player in the NBA.

JEREMY SOCHAN: Right, yeah.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Representing both Poland, that's where your mom's from. You grew up in England.

JEREMY SOCHAN: Yeah.

KRYSTEN PEEK: How does it feel to represent both places in the NBA?

JEREMY SOCHAN: No, I think it means a lot. And you know, there isn't anyone in the NBA from Poland or England, right now. So I think I feel like I can bring both communities together. And I feel like we're going to have a lot of fun on this journey.

KRYSTEN PEEK: How do you say congratulations in Polish?

JEREMY SOCHAN: Gratulacje.

KRYSTEN PEEK: "Grat-a-yu-len?"

JEREMY SOCHAN: "Gra-ta-lu-ya."

KRYSTEN PEEK: "Gra-ta-lu-ya."

JEREMY SOCHAN: I think I'm saying it right.

KRYSTEN PEEK: I'll work on it. I'll work on it. I'll work on it. Well, Jeremy, thank you so much for the time.

JEREMY SOCHAN: Thank you.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Congratulations.

JEREMY SOCHAN: Thank you so much.

KRYSTEN PEEK: And we'll see you at Summer League.

JEREMY SOCHAN: Thank you.

KRYSTEN PEEK: Thank you.
