POINT GUARD

Jrue Holiday – Milwaukee (vs. LA Lakers) - DK: $7,300 / FD: $7,900 / Yahoo: $29

Tonight’s big slate is all about finding equal value for less salary. This game is appealing for its star power, yes, but also it’s fantasy-friendly factors. The Lakers play at the third-highest pace while giving up on average the 10th-most fantasy points to opponents. A lot of that is attributable to their DvP vs. PGs…best in the league for fantasy. Holiday got off to a slow start but recently has been outproducing his still-low salary with his last four games going for at least 30 fantasy points, and as many as 50. Expect a great home show for the heavily favored Bucks tonight and getting your exposure cheap with Holiday allows you to build a more balanced lineup than one with Giannis.

Also Consider: Jalen Brunson, D’Angelo Russell, Trae Young, Ricky Rubio, Malcolm Brogdon, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

SHOOTING GUARD

Tyrese Haliburton – Sacramento (at Minnesota) - DK: $5,900 / FD: $6,700 / Yahoo: $27

Anthony Edwards is more consistently close to 40 fantasy points, but he’s also a lot pricier than Hailburton. Anyone from this game that you can fit into your lineups should be a smart play. Both teams play up-tempo basketball and both are loose on the defensive end, allowing the sixth-eighth-most fantasy points overall to opponents. Minnesota ranks fifth in turnover rate and has the league-best DvP to SGs. Haliburton has a wider range of outcomes, but all are enough that he won’t sink your lineups. In a plus situation like this one, I expect he’ll come out on the higher end of his range (40-plus).

Also Consider: Anthony Edwards, CJ McCollum, Devin Booker, Zach LaVine, Bradley Beal, Franz Wagner, Josh Giddey

SMALL FORWARD

Saddiq Bey – Detroit (vs. Indiana) - DK: $6,300 / FD: $6,100 / Yahoo: $23

Detroit has been coming on a bit more offensively, perhaps as a result of Cade Cunningham’s improving play at the point. Bey himself has been putting up the points and is notably coming off a 28-point effort vs. Sacramento. He’s been efficient from the floor and from the line the last two games, as well as collecting two steals in each of the last two games, and I’m rostering him while he’s hot. His FanDuel salary feels particularly low and overall I find him a nice mid-range, solid cash game option.

Also Consider: Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, DeMar DeRozan, Caris LeVert, Kevin Durant, Luguentz Dort

POWER FORWARD

Kevin Love – Cleveland (at Brooklyn) - DK: $5,300 / FD: $5,300 / Yahoo: $16

Cleveland is set to be without both of their frontcourt starters tonight in Brooklyn, which paves the way for Love to be a great value play. The concern is that this will be his first game off the COVID list, and he may be rusty. The hope is that he’s enough of a veteran that there is no rust and the team needs him to play 30 minutes. The Nets were flat last night against the Warriors, so on the back-to-back I’m also hoping this isn’t a huge blowout…but still, the Cavs have literally no one after Cedi Osman tonight, so I think Love will have no chance but to reach value.

Also Consider: Domantas Sabonis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jae’Sean Tate, Miles Bridges, Kristaps Porzingis, Julius Randle

CENTER

Karl-Anthony Towns – Minnesota (vs. Sacramento) - DK: $10,400 / FD: $9,800 / Yahoo: $44

Deciding where to spend on these huge slates is the biggest challenge. I’m choosing Towns because of the positive game factors I’ve already mentioned and because among all the super-expensive options, he gets the best matchup in the highest scoring game script. A double-double seems like a lock which is maybe why his DraftKings salary is a bit higher than the bargain price on FanDuel.

Also Consider: Anthony Davis, Jonas Valanciunas, Christian Wood, Richaun Holmes

ADDITIONAL NOTES

P.J. Tucker (F – MIA) Let me never say anything bad about Tucker as an actual basketball player, but boy do I not like rostering him in DFS. Some of his fantasy lines are stupefyingly bad, but on a night where the Heat could be without both Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, Tucker should be forced into some fantasy stats. In his last four games (minus Butler), Tucker has two double-doubles and is averaging about 25 fantasy points per game with a low of 19.

Jalen Brunson (G – DAL) should be an obvious low-mid range play tonight with Luka Doncic ruled out vs. Phoenix. The Suns offer a nice pace boost and though I rarely try to play guards vs. Chris Paul, in Brunson’s case I don’t mind it. They need him on the court for heavy minutes and he was delivering even with Doncic earlier in the month. If you can find the extra salary, Kristaps Porzingis seems determined to take the team on his shoulders. Averaging over 30 points per game in the last two, Porzingis is doing a little bit of everything but is still priced pretty fairly on DK and FD.

CJ McCollum (G – POR) If Lillard is out tonight, Anfernee Simons will be a popular value play, as it should be. But don’t completely forget about McCollum, who will enjoy greater usage as well. Chicago is a good defensive team, but Vegas has a 221-point over/under on this game, in Portland, which is the second-highest. There should be some good fantasy lines from this one.
