NBA betting: Brooklyn Nets rewarding bettors during 7-game winning streak

The Brooklyn Nets are on a roll.

Over their first 13 games since acquiring James Harden from the Houston Rockets, the Nets were just 7-6 with a lowly 4-9 mark against the spread. But the team is really beginning to gel, even with Kevin Durant out of action recently due to a hamstring injury.

In fact, the Nets have only played seven games with Harden, Durant and Kyrie Irving all in the lineup, but that hasn’t stopped the team from embarking on an impressive seven-game winning streak.

And better yet for bettors, the Nets have covered the spread in all seven of those games. That seven-game covering streak has Brooklyn 17-16 against the spread on the season.

The Nets went a perfect 5-0 on a recent road trip, beating both the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers along the way. The Nets were underdogs in three of those road games — the two games in L.A. and against the Phoenix Suns. They won outright in all three and are now 8-3 straight-up as underdogs this season. They've also gone 8-3 ATS as underdogs, with a 5-1 mark as a home underdog.

The Nets' 127-118 home win over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night extended the winning streak to seven. The Nets, who were six-point favorites at BetMGM, had just a one-point lead with 7:07 to play, but used an 11-0 run to pull away, get the win and cover the spread.

Brooklyn was led by Harden, who notched a triple-double with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists. Bruce Brown posted a career-high 29 points while Irving pitched in 21 points and seven assists and Joe Harris added 18 while knocking down 5-of-9 from behind the arc.

Nets gaining ground on Sixers, title odds moving

With the all-star break looming, the Nets have been rapidly gaining ground on the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference standings. At 21-12 overall, the Nets are just a half-game behind the Sixers, who improved to 21-11 with a win over the Toronto Raptors Tuesday night.

Despite being behind the Sixers in the standings, the Nets have the best odds at BetMGM to emerge from the Eastern Conference. The Nets’ current odds to win the East are +150 with the Milwaukee Bucks at +260 and the Sixers at +500.

As far as the NBA championship odds go, the Nets are gaining ground on the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. While the Lakers are +260 to win the title, the Nets are right behind LeBron James and company at +325.

And once Durant gets back into the lineup and the front office begins adding complementary pieces to the roster ahead of the March 25 trade deadline, those odds could continue to move.

Bettors looking to cash in on the Nets may be wise to get in on the action now.
