Bachelorette parties in Nashville learn plans may be ruined by NFL draft: 'It made me want to cry'

Brides-to-be and their friends are facing disappointment after learning they unwittingly scheduled their bachelorette parties in Nashville, Tenn., at the same time as the NFL draft.

The city, best known as a mecca for country music, has also earned a new title in recent years: one of America's leading non-Vegas bachelorette party destinations, thanks to its plentiful honky tonks and drinking tours.

Residents have tolerated bridal parties descending on their city for days of debauchery to celebrate a last fling before the ring. But now, many bachelorette groups are finding that the NFL draft, scheduled a year in advance, is ruining their trips.

Not only has the crowd changed, but so have plans as streets are shut down and pedal taverns are pushed off the popular Broadway strip.

“I don’t want to hang out with a bunch of football guys," one bride told Nashville news station WZTV. "I’m good. I already have to watch football on Sundays. I don’t need to see any more of that.”

Many told the station they didn’t know the draft was being held in the city.

“No Idea, no idea, and I think my dad’s very disappointed in me that I didn’t know,” one woman told the outlet. Another added, “When did they start planning the draft? Because I feel like I just found out about this."

“I found out three days ago, and it made me want to cry,” a disappointed bride said.

However, bachelorette party attendees did not receive much sympathy on Twitter.

For those planning their bachelorette in Vegas next year, here's a heads up: the NFL draft will be taking place in April on the iconic Las Vegas Strip. Adjust accordingly.
