There are quite a few drivers in all of NASCAR's series who have enough difficulty driving with four wheels. So it's gotta burn them up that a guy who's had so much success on two wheels is moving right up in the ranks.

Turner Motorsports has announced that former all-everything 15-time AMA champ and current fulltime trucks racer Ricky Carmichael will be making his Nationwide debut this weekend at Kansas, and will run in Phoenix and Homestead as well.

"Running a few races in the Nationwide Series this year was something we’ve been thinking about since we started the team," Turner said in a statement.  "Our first priority for Ricky was in the Truck Series and making sure he had the equipment he needed to succeed.  He’s shown a great deal of improvement this year and we wanted to take this opportunity to give him a chance to grow in his career."

Carmichael — pictured above apparently learning the dark arts with Kevin Harvick — will run with Monster, his longtime sponsor on both two and four wheels, on his car as part of Turner's recent acquisition of Braun Racing. Plans are for Carmichael to continue to run in the truck series in 2011, with about seven races on the slate for next year. This season in the Camping World Truck Series, he's ranked 12th, with two top-fives, six top-10s, and 5 DNFs in 20 races.
