My First Home Run: Miguel Rojas will never forget going deep in front of his idol

You always remember your first one — especially when you don’t hit too many of them.

Miguel Rojas, like his idol Omar Vizquel, is known much more for his glove than his bat. The Miami Marlins shortstop is smooth on defense, but at the plate he’s hit only 15 homers in his six-year MLB career.

The first one is special for a couple of reasons — first, it was the first one, so duh! But it also came against the Detroit Tigers with Vizquel on the field as a coach. Vizquel and Rojas are both from Venezuela, and it turned out another Venezuelan baseball great was there that day too.
