For the last several days reports were prevalent that Creighton assistant coach Preston Murphy had received interest from the University of Michigan regarding an opening they had on their coaching staff. However, sources close to the situation have confirmed to Bluejay Banter that coach Murphy would remain a Bluejay.
Coach Murphy came to Creighton in 2015 after stints as an assistant coach at his alma mater Rhode Island and then Boston College. Murphy came to Creighton as an ace recruiter and has lived up to that billing so far. He has been the lead recruiter on players such as Davion Mintz, Tyshon Alexander and Kaleb Joseph.
During his playing career, Preston Murphy was part of a Rhode Island team that made it all the way to the Elite Eight. This was the crowning achievement in a career that included four trips to the postseason. Murphy scored over 1200 points while playing for the Rams.
