Muhlenberg falls to Octorara in overtime of high school football opener
Aug. 26—Octorara's Braedon Wood scored on a 1-yard run, then recovered a Muhlenberg fumble in overtime to lift the Braves to a 15-7 victory in a non-league season opener Friday at Laureldale.
Michael Miller scored on an 8-yard run in the third quarter to tie it at 7-7 for the Muhls.
The Braves opened the scoring in the first quarter when Colton Focht scored on an 8-yard run.
Octorara almost got the job done before overtime when Muhlenberg took a knee on fourth-and-2 to run out the clock, but referees put an additional two seconds on the clock. The Braves then missed the 41-yard field goal attempt.
In overtime, Wood scored on the 1-yard run and converted the two-point conversion before recovering a fumble on the 2-yard line to seal it.
Aaden Lopez went 14-of-26 passing for 100 yards with one interception and rushed for 57 yards for Muhlenberg. Miller rushed for 29 yards and one touchdown. He also had four catches for 28 yards.
Kyle Archie had a team-high 36 receiving yards for the Muhls. Josiah Urbaez had an interception for Muhlenberg.
The Muhls finished with 179 yards of total offense (79 rushing, 100 passing)
