Mountain Ridge girls win on Senior Night, Keyser defeats Hampshire, Northern beats BW

Feb. 9—FROSTBURG — No. 2 Mountain Ridge celebrated five seniors on Senior Night and capped off Wednesday with a 58-16 rout over Fort Hill.

Ava Tringler, Rhegan Lamberson, Reghan Sivic, Annabeth Hughes and Sydney Snyder were recognized before the game.

All of them scored for the Miners (13-3, 6-1 WestMAC).

Snyder and Kealana Pua'auli shared team-high honors with 12 points each.

Lamberson and Makayla Ziler scored seven, Sivic and Tringler added five and Hughes added one point for Mountain Ridge.

The Sentinels (2-14, 0-6 WestMAC) were led by Brenly Hershberger's nine points.

Mountain Ridge led 13-4 after one quarter and shutout Fort Hill in the second to lead 32-4 at halftime. The Miners led 43-6 going into the final eight minutes.

Mountain Ridge hosts No. 1 Southern on Monday at 7 p.m. The Rams (17-2, 7-0 WestMAC) beat the Miners 56-49 on January 11.

Fort Hill hosts Broadfording on Monday at 7 p.m.

No. 3 Keyser 42 Hampshire 38ROMNEY, W.Va. — No. 3 Keyser defeated Hampshire in a tightly contested matchup on Wednesday.

While the Golden Tornado (13-5) led after every quarter, the Trojans (9-9) kept it within single digits the final three periods.

Keyser led 17-6 after one quarter, 20-14 at halftime and 31-23 after three quarters.

The Tornado's Bibs Felton scored a game-high 17 points, getting nine in the first quarter and seven in the fourth.

Autumn Kerchner finished with 10 points.

Della Knight led the Trojans with 12 points, scoring 10 in the second half.

Hampshire is at Elkins on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. while Keyser visits Fairmont Senior on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Northern 49 Bishop Walsh 38ACCIDENT — Abby Nelson's game-high 27 points led Northern over Bishop Walsh on Wednesday.

Nelson hit three 3-pointers and shot 8 of 11 at the free-throw line for the Huskies (10-8).

Marisa Perez added eight points while three others had four points each.

Autumn Hoppert led the Spartans (7-12) with 14 points.

Lydia Vassiliadi had eight points and Grace Elliott had six on a pair of 3-pointers.

Northern led 13-7 after one quarter, but Bishop Walsh cut it to 25-24 at halftime.

The Huskies outscored the Spartans 15-5 in the third quarter to lead by 11, 40-29.

Bishop Walsh heads to Morgantown Christian on Friday at 5 p.m.

Northern hosts Rockwood (Pa.) on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
