Mountain Ridge dominates Bishop Walsh; Petersburg rolls past Pendleton

Jan. 20—CUMBERLAND — No. 2 Mountain Ridge dominated host Bishop Walsh on Wednesday evening, winning 60-18.

The Miners (11-2) held the Spartans (4-9) to less than 10 points in all four quarters.

Mountain Ridge led 18-5 after one and 35-12 at halftime. The Miners were up 51-15 after three quarters.

Sydney Snyder scored a game-high 15 points for the Miners and Taylor Lamberson added 10.

Autumn Hoppert led the Spartans with nine points.

Mountain Ridge hosts No. 3 Allegany on Monday as part of a boys and girls doubleheader. The boys will host Northern at 5:30 p.m. followed by the girls.

The junior varsity girls will host Alco at the auxiliary gym at 5:30 p.m. followed by the JV Miners and Huskies at 7.

Bishop Walsh hosts Fort Hill on Friday.

PETERSBURG, W.Va. — No. 5 Petersburg exploded for 28 first-quarter points to cruise to a win over visiting Pendleton County on Thursday.

The Vikings (9-5) jumped out to a 28-6 lead after the first quarter as Miley Tingler had 10 points and Abby Alt had eight. Both finished in double figures with Alt scoring 14 points and Tingler 12.

Petersburg led 41-22 at the half and 54-35 after three quarters.

Nellie Whetzel ended with a team-high 16 points for Petersburg. Avery Townsend (23 points) and Sameigh Miller (17) combined for 40 of Pendleton's 55 points.

Petersburg is at Frankfort (4-5) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
