The NBA is comprised of the best basketball players in the world.
It makes it hard not to compare players to one another, but it happens naturally. Looking at the Western Conference specifically, the talent is unreal, especially at the point guard position as the NBA has transitioned into a shooters league.
The eight-year Portland Trail Blazers guard and the 11-year OKC/Houston guard have a different and unique offensive game beyond 30 feet. Harden is the best at baiting his defender into fouling. Meanwhile, they don't call Lillard ‘Logo Lillard' for nothing…
So the question presents itself: Who is more dangerous right now in the NBA bubble?
They've both been on a tear right now. That boy James Harden he's just shooting them trey balls. Bunch of eyeball sandwiches. - Tristan Thompson
A focused James Harden with no distractions, is the most dangerous player in the bubble. - Channing Frye
Harden led his Rockets all season to earning the fourth seed in the Western Conference playoff standings. Houston is currently up 2-1 over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Mind you, the Rockets are also without Russell Westbrook for the time being due to injury.
Lillard and the Trail Blazers fought and clawed their way through eight grueling seeding games and then a play-in game to earn the final eight seed in the Western Conference standings. Portland trails top-seeded Los Angeles 2-1 in their playoff series.
Both Harden and Lillard are offensive gurus.
Let's look at their individual bubble stats per game:
Harden - 29.0 points; 44.7 FG%; 33.3 3-PT%; 8.0 rebounds; 6.0 assists; 32.5 efficiency rating.
Lillard - 26.0 points; 42.9 FG%; 35.0 3-PT%; 4.0 rebounds; 3.0 assists; 20.5 efficiency rating.
The bubble demands the best out of the players. Every game is 'neutral' territory, no fans, just straight basketball.
Should Portland pull off the upset against Los Angeles and Houston defeat Oklahoma City, then the Trail Blazers and Rockets would meet up in the second round of the playoffs. That would be quite the series led by two of the most dynamic scorers in the game.
