Montrezl Harrell chooses to wear No. 5 for Sixers after signing
Now that the Philadelphia 76ers have addressed their backup big man issue with the signing of veteran Montrezl Harrell, it’s time to figure out how he will look out on the floor.
After donning No. 8 while with the Charlotte Hornets and No. 6 while with the Washington Wizards in the 2021-22 season, he has deciding to switch back to the No. 5 uniform, according to his Instagram story. Harrell wore that number while playing for coach Doc Rivers with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Harrell won the 2019-20 Sixth Man of the Year award while wearing No. 5. That season, he averaged 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds.
Harrell averaged 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds in the 2021-22 season for the Wizards and the Hornets.
The Sixers need somebody they can rely on to back up Embiid, and he has proven he can be that guy.
