After playing 13 seasons and nearly 1,000 games with the Montreal Canadiens, it has become increasingly clear that one of the greatest gifts Tomas Plekanec gave the team was his fashion expertise.

While the centre recorded over 600 points for the Habs, the turtleneck scored him many more points with his former teammates.

Brendan Gallagher, Jeff Petry, Jacob de la Rose and Artturi Lehkonen all donned the beloved turtleneck in the pregame warmups on Saturday. This gesture was seemingly the best way Canadiens players could honour hockey’s resident turtleneck enthusiast, and the act of appreciation was certainly noticed by Plekanec.

The fun and games ended there for the Canadiens, as the Leafs cruised to a 4-0 victory. For his part, Plekanec extended his pointless streak with the Maple Leafs to eight games.
