Montreal acquires Browne from Panamanian club

The Montreal Impact acquired Omar Browne on loan from Panamanian club CAI Independiente on Tuesday.

Browne, 24, was a key contributor in CAI's streak to the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals, which included an upset of Toronto FC.

"Omar is a young attacking player who adds depth to our group," Impact head coach Rémi Garde said in a statement. "He's technically gifted, quick, and powerful. It's interesting to have a left-footed player who can play both on the left and on the right."

Browne had two goals and an assist in CONCACAF play. He also has four caps, with two starts, for the Panamanian national team.

In 2014, he trialed with the Seattle Sounders, but was not offered a contract.
