FRANK SCHWAB: Welcome to Yahoo Sportsbook Daily. I am Frank Schwab. It is October 4th, 2021 and we're here to recap a few bad beats from the football weekend, and then we're going to dive into Monday Night Football. Let's get the bad news out of the way, a couple of rough beats in the NFL on Sunday. First, let's start with the Atlanta Falcons, their plus 2. You're feeling good about that because even at the end of the game, the Washington football team, they trailed by two points, it's 30-28, you know how this works out. Washington's either going to kick the field goal and win by one or they're going to lose by 2. Falcons plus 2 looks safe.

And then in one of the crazier plays of the day, Taylor [? Heinicke ?] rolls out to his left, finds JD McKissic who just finds a seam down the right sideline, he breaks a tackle from Deion Jones, one of the best linebackers in the game. And McKissic goes all the way down the right sideline, and so just getting out of bounds, playing it safe, setting up the field goal, he does a Superman dive into the end zone, scores the touchdown and holds up on a replay review. You can watch that replay a dozen times, and still not know whether he scored definitively.

The call on the field stands, Washington goes up by 4 points. They end up covering if you had Falcons plus 2. And I hope if you did have the Falcons plus 2, you also didn't have the Titans Jets under because oh, that was a doozy. It's 44 and 1/2. You're feeling good out that thing going into the fourth quarter, only 19 points were scored. The score is 10-9. You're feeling great. All of a sudden these offenses come alive. The Jets hadn't scored any points all season. They're contributing, the Titans are going up and down the field. The Titans at the end get a fourth down pass interference call to keep their drive alive. They end up scoring with less than 30 seconds left, a 29 point fourth quarter to push that thing over.

Overtime didn't even matter at that point, it goes over 44 and 1/2. If you had under 44 and 1/2 Jets Titans, that is a really, really bad beat on your NFL Sunday as well. We also had a bad beat on a college side, of course. Oklahoma, looks like it's going to cover 11 and 1/2 points right at the end, there's less than 2 minutes left. They take a 13 point lead and Kansas State takes the kickoff and returns it all the way for a touchdown. How many times you get to see that in the last two minutes of a game? Oklahoma betters went from being elated, they're going to get a late cover, the Kansas State getting in the back door [? run. ?] If you had Oklahoma, minus 11 and 1/2, you really feel bad after that one.

Let's flush all that. We're going to go to Monday Night Football, make some money here. And this is a really good match-up. Who'd have thought Raiders Chargers would be such a key match-up? It's such a great marquee match-up for ESPN. This is a great game. I'm really excited for it, and I'm going to be going with the Chargers, minus 3. Nothing against the Raiders. Have you heard my podcast with Charles Robinson? I've never been on this Raiders bandwagon I think they're playing well, have some quality wins. But the Chargers are just one of those [INAUDIBLE] teams for me. I like betting on them. They've won me some money already this season. And I'm going to keep going with that.

This team is really good. Justin Herbert is a star already in his second year. We're reminded with the struggles of some of these rookie quarterbacks this season how good Herbert was as a rookie last year. It's not easy in the NFL, but he made it look easy setting the single season rookie record for touchdown passes, and he's picked that right up. He has a couple of great receivers in Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, they have Austin Ekeler in the backfield he can throw to. Defense has a lot of talent. New coach, Brandon Staley has really gotten over the whole Chargers going to charger thing. He's brought some leadership to that team. They went on the road one at Kansas City last week, and I think that's indicative of who the Chargers are.

There's a quality football team. They're at home. I'm not sure exactly what that means, because there might be more Raiders fans in SoFi stadium than Chargers fans. But I trust this Chargers team. I think they're going to get a big win on Monday night. No knock against the Raiders who I like as well, I just like the Chargers a little bit more and I'm going to be backing them. Obviously, BetMGM'S going to have a ton of other options for you to bet on this game. And even though I don't like taking overs in prime time games, because they're very popular to bet on and people like taking the over, so usually paying a tax there, I don't see how we get away from this game being a shootout.

This game has all the makings of some 35, 28 type of game, so I'm going to go over 51 and all the props I'm going to play are overs too. Give me Derek Carr over 281 and 1/2 passing yards, Justin Herbert over 297 and 1/2 passing yards. I want Henry Ruggs over 3 and 1/2 receptions. He's really having a breakout season. I think the over under for his yardage of 44 and 1/2 is criminally low. He could hit one play, big play guy, and have 50 yards and you're cashing your over ticket all of a sudden. I think Henry Ruggs easily goes by 44 and 1/2. And Mike Williams 74 and 1/2, it is a little high, but he really has become their number one receiver along with Keenan Allen. It's 1A, 1B situation.

Herbert really likes going to Mike Williams. I think he's going to continue his hot streak, may even get yards here. I think 75 yards is a very good bet for him. And as an extra, throw a little bit on Mike Williams first touchdown 8 to 1 odds. Hopefully he scores right away. Your Monday night's off to a great start. So let's recap that. Got the Chargers minus 3, we're going over 51, we're going with a ton of over props. Hopefully it's a fun Monday night game. We got Carr over passing yards, Justin Herbert over passing yards, Henry Ruggs over receptions and receiving yards. I think that those are really, really low and great value than Mike Williams over receiving yards. And hey, let's go Mike Williams first touchdown too, make it a big Monday night.
