In front of a hometown Portland crowd, Matt Lindland topped off a Strikeforce: Challengers card with a third round TKO of Kevin Casey.
Lindland seemed to be in troubled early, as Casey took Lindland's back in the first round. Unfortunately, the Gracie brown belt could not finish off the Olympic silver medalist, and Lindland turned towards Casey. He finished the round damaging Casey with several knees to the face.
This beatdown continued in the second, as Lindland's performance harkened back to some of his best, smothering wins. He ended the second round with Casey stretched out into the crucifix position, landing punch after punch onto Casey's defenseless head. The mauling continued in the third round until the referee finally stopped it at 3:41.
Hot Strikeforce welterweight prospect Tyron Woodley faced his toughest test to date, winning a split decision 29-28, 27-30, 29-28 over Nathan Coy. In the first two rounds, Woodley dominated with takedowns and punches, but Coy battered Woodley's legs. Fighting in front of a hometown crowd, Coy controlled the final round, but it wasn't enough for the win.
Roger Bowling made the first two rounds of his bout with Bobby Voelker a clinic, showing off takedowns, punches and kicks while battering Voelker. He hit Voelker with several strikes that seemed like fight-enders, but Voelker held on. In the third round, Bowling was poked in the eye by the edge of Voelker's glove. A doctor performed an extensive exam on Bowling's eye before the fight was stopped. Since it wasn't an illegal foul, the bout went to the judges' cards. All three judges called in 29-28 for Bowling.
Tarec Saffiedine improved to 2-0 in Strikeforce, knocking out Nate Moore early in the second round with a perfectly-timed right hand.
Pat Healy and Bryan Travers started off the card with a bang. They grappled their way through an exciting bout filled with big takedowns and punishing clinches. Healy showed off a supplex in the final round, pushing himself ahead for the unanimous decision win, 30-27, 29-28, 29-28.
