It didn't take long for brawling's new school to vanquish the old in Miami on Saturday night.
Kimbo Slice needed just 43 seconds to knock out veteran slugger Tank Abbott in the main event of EliteXC: Street Certified.
Slice floored the aging Abbott, who can clearly still take a punch, several times before the referee stopped the one-sided bout.
Kimbo showed he still has some work to do on his sportsmanship: While standing, he punched the downed Abbott in the back of the head twice after the first knockdown; he threw Tank's mouthpiece out of the cage, and he refused to back off before the re-start.
But there was no doubting the ferocity and accuracy of Kimbo's punches, nor is there any doubting of his potential.
In other results of note:
*Antonio Silva won a split decision over Ricco Rodriguez in a heavyweight snoozer.
*In his Elite XC debut, former UFc middleweight Scott Smith scored a memorable knockout of Kyle Noke. Smith dropped Noke with a straight right at just seven seconds of the second round.
*Veteran Yves Edwards scored his biggest win in quite some time with a spectacular knockout knee against Edson Berto. Edwards hit the knee as Berto went for a single-leg with four seconds left in the first round.
*Brett Rogers stopped James Thompson via TKO at 2:24 of the first round. Rogers nailed Thompson with big shots to each temple.
