The San Diego Padres agreed to an $8.9 million, one-year contract with Tommy Pham, avoiding arbitration with the outfielder who was limited to 31 games last season because of injuries. Pham hit .211 with three homers and 12 RBIs after coming over in a trade with Tampa Bay.
The Colorado Rockies avoided arbitration with left-hander Kyle Freeland and five other players Friday as the team tries to get back on track after missing the playoffs the past two seasons. Freeland agreed to a one-year contract for $5,025,000 following a bounce-back season. Freeland had just five quality starts in 2019, when he went 3-11 with a 6.73 ERA.
Crawford's 2021 deal is for $2.05 million, Murphy's is for $875,000 and Montero's is for $2.25 million. The 26-year-old Crawford won his first Gold Glove last season. Crawford made a prorated $213,259 on a salary of $575,800.
