Bartolo Colon looks to end a seven-start winless streak as the Chicago White Sox close out a two-game series against his former team, the Cleveland Indians, at U.S. Cellular Field.

The White Sox were expecting big things from Colon when they picked him up from Montreal in a three-team trade over the winter. So far, the hard-throwing right-hander has been a bust.

Colon gave up five runs and seven hits over just 3 2-3 innings of a 10-9 loss to Detroit on Thursday. He walked four and threw two wild pitches, falling to 6-9 with a 4.36 ERA on the season. Colon has not won since June 7.

“We are a little concerned, no doubt about that,” White Sox manager Charlie Manuel said. “He seems to be not locating his pitches very well, and if he’s not locating, he cannot get away with it.”

Colon is 0-4 with a 5.86 ERA over his last seven starts. The seven-year veteran has never finished a season with a losing record. Colon’s worst season was a 14-12 record for Cleveland in 2001.

Colon is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in three starts against the Indians this year.

Joe Crede homered and Carl Everett added a two-run single as Chicago defeated the Indians 4-3 on Monday.

The White Sox have won four straight to move within six games of first-place Kansas City in the AL Central. The Indians have lost six in a row.

Cleveland placed shortstop Ricky Gutierrez on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a career-threatening compression of the spinal cord.

Gutierrez was activated from the 60-day disabled list June 24 after rehabbing from fusion surgery on two vertebrae in his upper back and neck in October.

He appeared in 16 games this season, but continued to experience problems.
