    At long last, the New York Mets saw one of the most beloved figures in franchise history receive an honor they felt he deserved all along. The National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday evening announced that Gil Hodges, the legendary Mets manager, has been elected to the Hall of Fame. The 16-member Golden Days Era Committee gave Hodges the required 12 votes, and Hodges will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as part of its 2022 class.
