Tyson Ross could be on the mound in a Rangers uniform sometime this week

ARLINGTON  - Tyson Ross’ outing with Round Rock Monday wasn’t inspiring, but that doesn’t mean the big right-hander won’t be making his Rangers debut sometime this week. Ross is battling back from offseason Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery, as well as a more recent struggle with back spasms, and he is following the schedule for a return to play. The fact that he threw 47 balls among 86 pitches Monday against Omaha might make one question if he is on schedule. “The stuff was there. Rangers' Beltre activated, starting vs. Rays

Associated Press ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre is finally set to start his 20th major league season. Beltre was activated from the disabled list and in the lineup for Monday night's game against Tampa Bay. He has missed the whole season so far because of a right calf strain, after also having issues with his left calf during spring training. The 38-year-old Beltre went into this season only 52 hits shy of 3,000 for his career. He won his fifth career Gold Glove last season. Texas waited until after Beltre went through infield drills and batting practice before posting its lineup about 90 minutes before the game. Beltre was listed as batting fourth and playing third

Texas Rangers draft preview: Bubba Thompson. The 2017 MLB draft is two weeks from today, on June 12, 2017. The Texas Rangers have two first round picks this year — their own selection, and a compensatory pick for losing Ian Desmond -- and both are late in the first round, at #26 and #29. In advance of the draft, I am going to offer capsule reports on some of the guys who the Rangers could take with their picks. Kicking off this series is a write-up on Alabama high school outfielder Bubba Thompson. I’m starting with him because the first time I read about him, I thought to myself, “this is a Texas Rangers draft pick.” Thompson is a raw, toolsy high school outfielder who also plays quarterback
