Oakland Athletics center fielder Ramon Laureano had a six-game suspension reduced to four games Friday after appealing the penalty for his role in a benches-clearing brawl with the rival Houston Astros. Major League Baseball said a settlement had been reached and the A's were informed of the decision. Laureano was set to begin the four-game suspension Friday night and will miss a three-game weekend Bay Bridge Series against the San Francisco Giants.
The Arizona Diamondbacks will start left-handed pitcher Alex Young on Saturday against the San Diego Padres in place of the injured Madison Bumgarner. Young’s start Saturday will be his first of the 2020 season and 16th in his career. The 26-year-old was a rookie last year with the Diamondbacks and was almost exclusively a starter, appearing 17 times and making 15 starts.
