The Atlanta Braves will open the season with two rookie left-handers in their rotation while giving Kyle Wright more time to prepare for his first start.
The Pittsburgh Pirates (9-16-4) couldn’t muster any offense as they nearly get shut out by the Atlanta Braves (16-10) 8-1 Sunday afternoon.
This means Wright – who is still regaining full form after a January cortisone injection put him behind – will start the season on the 15-day injured list. “Just kind of gives me the chance to build all the way up and feel extra strength and endurance,” Wright said Sunday. Wright and the team talked about how this would be better for him in the long run. To achieve their goals this season, the Braves need Wright.
