Luke Hochevar has officially retired from baseball.
Advice: Hochevar, 34, had been hopeful of making it back to the majors following thoracic outlet surgery two years ago, but he wasn't able to throw again without pain. "There was just no way," Hochevar said. "That was it. I got up to the 80 percent [recovery] which you're supposed to and it just wasn't working. It was hurting just to throw. No way I could have ever gotten back to this level to get guys out. Just too much pain." A former No. 1 overall pick, Hochevar flamed out as a starter but had a successful run as a reliever before injuries ultimately ended his career.
