The San Francisco Giants had three hits agains the Chicago White Sox on Friday night, and teams that have three hits usually don’t win games. The San Francisco Giants didn’t win their game. Math!
On a low-key evening that saw fantastic defense early give way to an untimely error late for the San Francisco Giants, the Chicago White Sox scraped by with a 1-0 win to open up the weekend series! Lance Lynn found himself in a bit of trouble to begin the ballgame. After quickly recording two outs, Lynn allowed a walk, a single, and a walk to load the bases, but after some Ethan Katz magic, Lynn struck out Tommy La Stella to escape the inning.
He went five shutout innings in possibly his best start in orange and black, but the Giants were shut out for the fourth time this season and lost anyway. On a home stand that featured two last-place teams and one in town now that has underachieved, the Giants have lost four of the first six games. On Friday, it was no fault of Cobb’s.
