  • Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Monday that the club has interest in retaining impending free agents Nick Markakis and Kurt Suzuki.
Advice: Anthopoulos didn't say whether any negotiations have taken place, but it's safe to assume they'll be in touch soon if they haven't already. While Markakis dropped off during the second half, he still had his best season in several years with a .297/.366/.440 batting line to go along with 14 homers and 93 RBI. He'll turn 35 in November. Suzuki worked as part of a tandem with Tyler Flowers once again while batting .271/.332/.444 with 12 homers and 50 RBI over 105 games. He turned 35 earlier this month.

  • Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports reports that Nick Markakis will not receive the qualifying offer from the Braves.
Advice: Markakis will hit the free agent market after turning 35 in November, and teams will be able to sign him without worry of giving up a draft pick; assuming Heyman's report is correct. He's coming off his best season in years with an .803 OPS, 14 homers and 93 RBI. He should see interest from other clubs, but because of his age, he's probably looking at a short-term contract.
