CLEVELAND, Ohio – Former Cleveland Indians pitching great Sam McDowell is scheduled to appear at two venues in Cleveland on Saturday, Feb. 5. First, McDowell and Marty Gitlin, who have written “The Saga of Sudden Sam: The Rise, Fall and Redemption of Sam McDowell,” will be at a Wahoo Club event at 11 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown.
"People are scared and I was, too," Blanca told The Athletic at the time. "I was scared for these moments for a long time. And I stayed [with Omar] because of that."
The Cleveland Guardians have promoted Joe Torres to assistant pitching coach on manager Terry Francona’s staff. Torres spent the past two seasons as the Guardians’ minor league pitching coordinator. The 39-year-old has been credited in helping with the development of several of the club’s top young pitchers.
