Detroit Tigers rookie right-hander Casey Mize couldn't keep up with Cleveland Indians ace Shane Bieber, but he hopes to replicate his success someday.
Gardenhire said in that scenario Mize would have come out to pitch the fifth. But he kept walking people, two men before and one after the error. The three walks were more than Mize had issued in any single game this year.
Things were rough right from the get-go as Jose Ramirez took Mize yard right in the first inning. Mize seemed to find his balance a little more through the second and third innings which went 1-2-3 with quite a few groundouts. Where things fell apart for Mize was in the fourth.
