Yankees' young Venezuelans finding comfort in common culture: 'We have an opportunity to represent our country'

Carlos Mendoza doesn't have to venture far when he's in search of food from his homeland. There's no need for the Yankees' Venezuelan bench coach to find a hole in the wall somewhere in the city. Mendoza eats all the arepas and pabellón — that's shredded beef with rice and beans — he needs in the team's dining room. “We've got some of the, if not the, best cooks in the league,” Mendoza told the Daily News.
