Playoff baseball is right around the corner, and the Boston Red Sox are in a great spot. The Red Sox already have clinched a postseason berth, and their magic number to clinch the Amerian League East only is three. Boston will have to keep up its hot streak in order to fend off the New York Yankees, but luckily for the Sox, they will play their final seven regular-season games at Fenway Park. The Yankees’ potential playoff starting rotation is starting to take shape. Following Monday’s 11-3 win over the Royals, Joe Girardi announced Jordan Montgomery would pitch Tuesday versus Tampa Bay, with Luis Severino to follow Wednesday and Sonny Gray on Thursday.
New York City FC has found its feet pretty well in MLS, and the club could finally be closing in on a location for its own stadium moving forward. Newsday Sports is reporting that NYCFC is prepared to bid on land at Belmont Park as the club continues its search to find a permanent stadium for its future. The report also states that Belmont isn’t NYCFC’s preferred destination to play matches, with the stadium in Elmont — roughly an 18-mile distance from the club’s current venue, Yankee Stadium.
