During the 1996 season, Al Leiter and Kevin Brown became the first starting pitchers ever to represent the Florida Marlins in the All-Star Game. Brown’s first win as a member of the Marlins came on this day 25 years ago. Although he had just a 2.51 ERA entering his fourth start as a member of the club, Brown had dropped his first three decisions with the team.
The Marlins faced adversity from the beginning of Tuesday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, and things only continued to get worse as the game went on. Marlins starting pitcher Nick Neidert allowed three hits, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch in the first inning. Before the Marlins even came up to bat, they were already down 3-0.
