Cleveland Guardians out-power Cubs, 5-3, on homers by Jose Ramirez, Josh Bell and Myles Straw
It was a game of highs and lows for the Guardians on Friday night at Goodyear Ballpark. The Guardians beat a split-squad of Chicago Cubs, 5-3, as Zach Plesac overcame a shaky first inning to strikeout six over five innings. Jose Ramirez and Josh Bell backed Plesac in his last start of the spring with consecutive homers in the first inning.

Paul Sullivan: Dansby Swanson's forgettable spring continues, but Cubs aren't worried about their $177 million man
After signing a seven-year, $177 million deal in December to be the centerpiece of the Chicago Cubs lineup, Dansby Swanson entered the final weekend of Cactus League play hitting .059. No one in spring training with 30 or more at-bats had a lower batting average than the new Cubs shortstop. In his first at-bat Friday in a 5-3 win against the Texas Rangers at Sloan Park, Swanson hit a slow roller to the right side but legged out an infield single thanks to a poor defensive play. Swanson's slow start shouldn't be cause for concern — unless it carries over into the season.
