Maybe Saturday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays can bring more late-game magic for the host Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles' fortunes have suddenly turned for the better with a pair of last-inning victories. The second of those came with Friday night's two-run home run from Rougned Odor inthe 13th inning for an 8-6 victory against the Rays to begin a three-game series.
The Baltimore Orioles called top prospect Adley Rutschman up to the majors Saturday, paving the way for the 24-year-old catcher to make his big league debut. The switch-hitting Rutschman was the No. 1 pick in the 2019 draft and is ranked as baseball's No. 1 prospect by MLB Pipeline. The Orioles selected his contract from Triple-A Norfolk and designated catcher Anthony Bemboom for assignment.
The first game of the night was actually the last one to end as the Rays and Orioles played out a wild back-and-forth affair. Mike Zunino opened the scoring in the fifth, becoming just the second away player (after Giancarlo Stanton) to hit a home run over Camden’s newly-reconfigured left field wall, his three-run shot giving the Rays a 3-0 lead.
