Returning to the city where he spent more time than he would have liked — courtesy of a pair of rehabs following two Tommy John surgeries, five years apart — Jameson Taillon took the next step in his latest comeback. The Yankees right-hander tossed two scoreless frames against the Pirates, his former team, Saturday at LECOM Park, working out of a jam in the second inning and striking out four in his second start of the spring.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Jameson Taillon hurled two scoreless innings for the Yankees on Saturday against the Pirates, who traded him to New York over the offseason. He allowed a pair of hits over his 39-pitch effort, while striking out four. His fastball was really sharp, and his breaking pitches were also sharp,” catcher Kyle Higashioka said.
New York Yankees took game 1 of the Subway Series double-header behind home runs from Luke Voit, Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela.
